Piet Hein’s Maze

The willow maze was designed by all-round artist Piet Hein. It was opened in 1990 as a substitute for the old, weakened beech maze.

Originally laid out with bamboo hedging, when the bamboo started flowering and later died it was replaced with energy willow which has now formed a dense wall of vegetation.

The average time it takes for people to find their way to the centre of the maze is 15 minutes.
