Piet Hein's Sundial

Piet Hein first came to Egeskov in 1938 and in 1989 pesented the estate with the 11 metre high sundial, Helix Helios.

The instrument uses sunlight to tell the time by the changing position of the shadow on the 4 metre long and 40 centimetre wide twisted band.

The garden near the sundial was laid out in 1998 and is planted with scented English roses and underplanted with a variety of perennials to ensure an all-year-round display of blooms.
